Dr. Howard County General Hospital is looking for a full-time nurse for our local hospital’s urgent care program. This is an immediate opportunity for a nurse (one who has a license and experience in providing patient care) to join our team at the hospital. The successful candidate will have a passion for patients, a commitment to quality care and compassionate patient care, and the ability to positively impact the lives of patients.
To begin with, this job may be a temporary one for the short term. We will be adding to our team over time.

As we all know, in our profession, if you can’t provide excellent patient care, you don’t deserve to be a nurse. While we’re not looking to replace nurses, we are looking for someone who has a passion for patients, a commitment to quality care and compassionate patient care, and the ability to positively impact the lives of patients.
When we first saw this job description, we thought, “Great, I’ll have to talk to this person and see what he has to say.” Turns out he’s not interested in the job. He just wants someone who’s willing to start a blog and provide some good content to the county. We’ve done the interview and all he wanted to do was create a blog that talks about the hospital.
No, you didn’t. You went to the interview to see if you were qualified to be a writer. At the interview, you were asked what you wanted to do with your time and what you wanted to write about. You responded with a list of things that you wanted to write about. The question was, “Can you tell us about your blog?” The question was in reference to the job you were seeking, but it was the same question every time.
The job is a hospital administrator. You will be in charge of the hospital’s website and the website of the hospital’s parent company. Sounds like an administrative job, right? You have a lot of responsibility. You have to be organized, responsible, and above all, responsible. You have to know the ins and outs of your job well enough to do that.
We talked to the job-hunters who were vying for this job, and they all had one thing in common. They were all in their 20’s and 30’s in the same position, and all of them were really good with numbers – and that was the only thing they had in common. They all liked to work with numbers and they all had a passion for numbers. They all liked to work very long hours – and all of them were really good at that, too.
This is not to say that having a passion for numbers wouldn’t be a good thing. In fact, it might be a good thing in some people’s jobs, but in the end, that’s just something you have to learn to do, not something that’s a natural trait. But for the job-hunters, being good with numbers wasn’t the end goal. Instead, it was the process of getting there, and in particular, getting the job.
Howard County was a very small county and had a very small hospital, and the job-hunters had a specific goal in mind. They wanted the best doctors available to treat patients. They wanted the best technicians available to operate the machines that made up the hospital, and they wanted the best nurses available to care for the patients and be available when they were needed. They wanted the best people available to keep the hospital running for the next 10 years.
