If we accept the fact that we can never be fully aware of our thoughts and actions, it becomes easier to see that there is a distinction between the two. Awareness is the ability to differentiate between the two, and there is a difference between the conscious and the unconscious. For example, we may be aware of our thoughts, but we are not aware of the mental and emotional state surrounding these thoughts.
Consciousness is our awareness of our thoughts, feelings, and emotions. The idea of consciousness as “awareness only” is so popular in psychology that philosophers have spent decades trying to get rid of the “awareness is awareness” idea from people’s heads. The idea that we are aware only of the thoughts we have, the feelings we have, and the emotions we have is very dangerous territory, because it doesn’t account for the possibility of other aspects of our lives.
There are also those who think that we are aware only of the thoughts we have, the feelings we have, and the emotions we have. Those folks are not, however, the only ones.
And the people who are actually trying to get rid of the awareness of our feelings, the thoughts we have, the emotions we have, and the desires we have are the ones who do not want to understand consciousness, because it would mean that the only real life we have is lived with thoughts, feelings, and desires. To be conscious, we need to understand our thoughts, feelings, and desires.
Consciousness is not a question of being able to get rid of thoughts, feelings, and desires. It’s a question of knowing your thoughts, feelings, and desires in full. It’s just that now consciousness is in the mind and not the body. As a result, we can’t actually live a conscious life. You can still get rid of thoughts, feelings, and desires, but consciousness is still not the same as being alive.
I have been thinking about consciousness and living a conscious life for a long time now. I still can’t get a hold of my thoughts, feelings, and desires in full, but I think I have a good handle on what I can be experiencing. I have a very clear idea of what it feels like to be alive, but its not like I can take my consciousness and put it in a box and put it away. There is a huge gap between being conscious and living a conscious life.
As you know from your own research, consciousness is one of the most difficult things to define. It has been called “the great blank slate” and “the very fabric of reality”. It has also been described as the “stuff of mind” and the “stuff of being”.
Consciousness is not something we can directly experience, but we can see with our own eyes. We can observe with our minds what we think of as being conscious and what we think of as not being conscious. Consciousness is the experience we have when our mind is fully functioning. It is the experience of being awake.
The concept of our mind has become somewhat of a myth. There are two ways in which it can be defined. We can define it as the brain’s functioning in the context of an individual’s awareness, or we can define it as the brain’s functioning in the context of the individual’s experience. The former definition has been criticized by philosophers for being difficult to define, but the latter definition is the more useful one for most purposes.
This is why we can’t use the word “epistemology” here because that’s what it is. It’s the study of ideas. It’s the study of how people think. It’s the study of the world.
