average salary of general contractor
In a typical construction job, the average contractor’s salary is around $47,000 as of 2013. So, the average salary for a general contractor will be roughly $36,000, and if you include benefits, it will be around $52,000, and if you include overtime pay, it will be around $59,000. The average construction worker in the U.S. is making around $25.80 an hour.
That’s just the average and it is going to get worse over time. In the early 2000s, the U.S. job market was one of the most favorable in the world, but it got worse when the economy collapsed in 2007. And it got even worse when the construction industry was hit by a massive recession.
This is all the more true when we look at how much construction workers are paid. The average construction worker in the U.S. is earning around $49.50 an hour, which is the equivalent of $11,943 per year. That’s not a lot of money, but it covers the necessities of life, the necessities of life like food, shelter, and clothing.
I know this is a lot, but a quick look around will confirm that the construction industry is the most stable in the world. If you look at the amount of jobs being created each year, the construction industry has been around for around 500 years. That means that the average person in America has seen a lot of changes in the construction industry, and more than likely, in each of those 500 years, there was a time when construction laborers were fairly well paid.
Let’s look at the salaries of workers in the construction industry in the U.S. in the last hundred years.
The average construction worker makes around $43,000 a year. That’s a slight increase over the previous century, but it’s not great. The median income of construction workers in the U.S. is around $25,000 a year.
The median income in the U.S. is around $30,000 a year. That is obviously not ideal, but it is enough to keep most of us fairly content. Construction is still a relatively low-income profession, and the fact that many Americans have decent jobs is a big deal.
I guess I wouldn’t have a hard time getting a job these days. I’ve been working in construction for 15 years, and while I am the most skilled there are still plenty of people who are just as good as me in other fields. I’ve got a friend who has a good job (we hope), and I’ve also got a friend who is one of those construction workers who can’t get a job at all.
While the median income for construction is still less than $40,000, there are still plenty of folks who can land that job and make it. People who are in the construction trades, whether it be a carpenter, a bricklayer, or a general contractor, can make plenty of money. They can build homes, fix up buildings, and many professions that you might think of as being in construction aren’t.
To make a lot of money in construction, you also need good contractors. There are plenty of general contractors out there.
