I’m sorry to break it to you, but most of us have a brain that is programmed with a certain level of self-awareness. For most of us, the higher we are, the more aware we are of our thoughts and emotions, the more aware we are of our actions. So, if you want to improve your self-awareness, you have to raise your threshold to awareness.
The easiest place to start is by doing something really simple and, therefore, not too ambitious. For example, you can start by just being a little more aware of how you eat. The amount of times you eat something that you think is bad will determine the amount of self-awareness you have.
By doing things that are little and easy you will raise your threshold to awareness. Even if you get there, you have to be willing to go much further because, as the saying goes, “it takes time to make a difference.” But the more you push yourself to make self-awareness a habit, the more you will increase your self-awareness.
The same with your diet. If you eat healthy food you will probably be more aware of bad food. You will also be more likely to notice your own bad habits. But you have to be willing to change the things you do to make yourself healthier. If you eat fast food you might become aware of the fact that your clothes don’t fit and you’re eating out of a restaurant for the first time in your life.
One of the main things that makes us aware of our own bad habits is when we see them. When we see a trend, when we see something that we should do, we are more likely to do it. Because we are subconsciously aware of the fact that something is bad we are more likely to avoid doing it.
So if you want to change bad habits you first need to become aware of them. We can all think of things that we don’t like doing, but if we think about them, we are more likely to do them.
Most people with a habit tend to think about it, but even people without habits are aware of it in their subconscious. Our brains are hardwired to be self-aware of our habits and our behaviors.
Unfortunately, it can be hard to realize this when you are doing something bad. Think about it: If you are using a drug for a long period of time, you are probably aware of the fact that it is bad. If you are watching a horror film and something bad happens, you are very likely to start acting like it was real. The same is true of bad habits.
It’s like a little warning bell goes off when we begin to think we’ve gotten away with something. We start to act on our self-awareness of our bad habits and start to feel guilty. There is no way you can tell yourself that you just committed a sin. You’re just playing the game and it is now your turn to take the fall. Of course, the same goes for good habits.
This is why we take the time to do things that feel really good for ourselves. And, of course, this is why we take the time to learn how to stop bad habits before they get started.
